The ACS880 is ABB's industrial drive platform, covering everything from a 0.55 kW wall-mounted unit to 6000 kW liquid-cooled installations on one architecture. Its defining feature is Direct Torque Control, which gives torque response under 5 ms without an encoder. Ready-made application software is available by plus code for cranes, winches, winders, artificial oil lift and tunnel ventilation, so demanding control tasks can be handled by the drive rather than by external logic.
